Intution and Verification

I have sometimes felt that I have an inkling as to why a certain thing would happen.I could not or explain only after rethinking continuously as to why I had arrived at the decision.I had believed that intuition was mostly to be relied upon and trusted.I had inkling that India would lose the 2003 WorldCup.I had no notion of how or why I arrived at the decision.Maybe my intrinsic pessimistic nature might have been the reason but I had started to trust and fear intuition.Mostly they related to fatalistic accidents to persons I know or disastrous results in the endeavors I undertook.

I would not verify how many of them had turned out to be right.I would not record them and check for its outcomes. All I remembered were the ones that had come true.My certainty had been based on an assumption that I had not  troubled to verify.Looking back I am sure that some of it might have been proved wrong. The probability that it would have turned to be correct would have been at the max 50-60%.This would have allowed me to take intuition lighter and not with the dread which consumed me particularly when they predicted doom scenarios.

It had lead me on a digressive path to wonder how much what I believe were crosschecked with available data and verified.A guardian article particularly reminded of this point.Jose Mourinho was believed to have often won 1-0's that it became his perceived image. But the author (analytic Jonathan wilson I think ) reminded that it was not the case and the number of matches he had won in similar scores during his real madrid tenure were 3.

But then should I not trust my intuition ?.I have no answer but mostly I will.Though in the frame of mind that I am now writing I am hopeful that I can add a bit of caution and not trust it completely.

Structure and Agency

Its been a long time writing ,putting words into thoughts in a coherent manner. My considerable lack of writing practice have lead to long sentences,as my friend pointed out ,long sentences lead to difficult reading and comprehension.

I would like to continue this post correcting this flaw and present my ideas in short sentences. All the systems in the world have a structure, certain set of rules. Those that inhabit the system have to play by the rules in the system. This is same be it a sports field or an institution like family, society or politics. Some of these are explicit like laws and coded rules, others are accepted norms..Any deviation from the accepted norms is always frowned upon and the violator is always being forced or coerced to confirm to the norm.

My struggle seems to be to understand how much structure determines our actions.Whether our actions can have a freedom independent of structure,if so what are the consequences. Some of it are obvious, any violation of legal rules lands us in trouble. This allows us certain acceptable behaviour in a society. The acceptable behaviour can have a lot of individual freedom or more social order depending on how the rules are written.

Norms are still more difficult. The following of Norms in any case whether by peer pressure or social acceptance tends to create a structure which limits your actions. In cycling it was speculated that everybody was using drugs. So you had to use them if you had to win.You could not do so but it would almost certainly lead you not to win.The other option was to report on widespread drug use which would carry its own pitfalls. The strucure and the objective had lead most to take only one possible option,to cheat same as others.

K-Stew and vulnerablity:

There are photos of kirsten stewart in which she looks ravishing and she really is ,but since my mind is populated with images from her movies from the ever popular twilight to Speak(in which her performance is brilliant) to Welcome to rileys which at some point convey vulnerablity that is personal that feels as if she somehow it is her trait and that it got extended to her characters be it mallory or bella.

Her twitch is an oft noticed quirk, that fits well with her characters because they are mostly nervous wrecks, but there are also others like how her body is wound as a spring before an emotion erupts or never relaxing enough dring conversation ,this especially in interviews which produces bursts of conversation. There is tension underneath her whole being and I hope that it does not break and cause a downward spiral.

Mindless et cet ra

As I set my mind to write something worthwhile that does not involve personal views ,I find myself void of any thoughts .Perhaps thoughts are connected to words and don't endure but images do.
image has not loaded
It is just that photography is an art.Images elicit emotions which are at once spontaneousbut words on the other hand require your time and attention. The span of a thought or an idea is so temporary you find yourself losing it within a minute you hit upon it.Some people write their ideas building upon them until it becomes something more than it set out for.As Inceptionrightly remarked those are the resilient ideas, the ideas that take hold of you refusing to let go.

I just pictured an image. what if you just entered your office and people or throwing everything at you? You look towards their faces?faces give you clues ,auditory noises secondary.but what if both were blocked out you have only the action of people throwing things at you?you are behind a glass wall that cannot be broken as you notice people throwing things at you. That is the best description of an image I thought of .perhaps google can aid me:

Dexter Season 5 - Conscience or rage ?

Dexter had me going through 4 seasons without stopping. The idea that you could empathise with a serial killer is not conceivable, if you view it from a third person's point of view(victim or someone close to the victim) or as most  police procedurals do from cops' point of view.Cops point of view tends to be favorite because if you view the killer through the law enforcer's  eyes you can understand the killer not too deeply but just his twisted motives and the cleverness of the cops in bringing the killer down..Dexter differs by giving a first person point of view.Dexter Morgan is a blood spatter analyst for the miami PD who moonlights as a serial killer whose  victims  are murderers who have escaped conviction or ironically serial killers who were not caught or noticed. If you consider his acts he is a vigilante like batman which was brilliantly metaphored in one of his episodes where he considers a comic based on him,But what sets dexter apart is he does those murders because he feels a need ,a primal need that he needs to satisfy. Why does he choose his victims as murderers? partly because his adopted father told him to and because they wont be missed by the society.Dexter as a part of his cover dates and latter marries Rita,a divorcee with 2 kids.Dexter who has an emotionally empty core or no feelings, starts to have them once he connects with Rita and the kids(Dexter adores kids and hates pedophiles ,which is deadly for the pedophiles in the literal sense)which gets him wondering about responsibilities about what  would happen if he was discovered not for himself but for the family. It is at this point Rita is murdered by a serial killer(trinity) whom dexter was trying to model himself on,a family man and a serial killer.Though Dexter realizes  the facade about the Happy Family of trinity and kills trinity ,it was not without consequences,It caused him rita ,it orphaned his kids and it stopped his conscience from reaching a full moon?.It is with this premise the season5  starts with aptly put tagline.

" Sins may be forgiven but conscience is a killer."

Warehouse 13 -My impressions so far

Warehouse 13 is one of the science fiction tv series broadcasted by Syfy.I started watching Warehouse as it might be a light entertainment after me seeing True blood  and reading Passage halfway.Seeing the 1 hr 27 min pilot left me in doubts whether to see the series or give it up ,but I decided to give it a try and found it growing on me as  I watched 2 more episodes,it helps that the relationship between Pete and Myka is similar to Booth and brennan in Bones, though not that intense or not that quite interesting .Bones relies  on gore and motives to pull u through the episodes while warehouse 13 relies on the bizzare artifacts and the effects it causes on people ,like feeling the deepest despairs of  16th century unlucky in love italian princess or the hypnotherapy effects of a chair where people have sat for so many years. The Show is not aimed to provoke thoughts or cause intense scientific discussions ,it is for fun and it acheives its target.
